So I’m playing a little catch up on the blog today and am excited to share this beautiful winter wedding that I photographed back in December. Held at Tresca on 8th in downtown Lynchburg, Shamra and Travis’ wedding featured snowflakes and jingle bells, and a lot of excitement. I’ve known Shamra for several years and we are fellow Tri Sigma sorority sisters, both hailing from the Alpha Chapter at Longwood University. I was super stoked when she hired me to take her and Travis’ engagement portraits and made me her official wedding photographer. I was on hand to photograph the wedding day from start to finish, and loved capturing the emotions that built as the bride and groom got dressed and ready to walk down the aisle, to the time they left the event and had that special kiss under the stars as husband wife. I recently had the pleasure of photographing this 10-day old cutie! This little one was such a good model. He was wide eyed and happy throughout most of the session. When photographing newborns, I love to use available, natural light and hold the sessions in the family’s home so that the infant and parents are comfortable in their surroundings. In this session, I brought some of my own props and I used items provided by the parents, as well. I love capturing images of such sweet, precious babies so new to this world! Enjoy!

I am playing catch up now that the wedding season has slowed and I have a little more time to devote to the blog. So I am thrilled to be able to finally have the time to blog about one of my favorite weddings of the 2012 wedding season. Aaron and Amanda married in Sept. 2012. I was fortunate enough to take their engagement photos in Virginia Beach and capture Amanda’s bridal portraits as well. By the time their wedding came along, I considered these two friends. Aaron and Amanda had a beautiful day for their outdoor ceremony and reception held in Blackstone, Va. You could really feel the love between this couple. And they were surrounded by the love of their friends and family during this day. It was certainly hard to choose just a handful of favorite images from their wedding day. Hopefully, these images displayed below will portray the essence of Aaron and Amanda’s special day.

I met up with Ginny and Kip a couple weekends ago at a local park for a mini Portrait Session. The two have been dating for a year and a half. Mini portrait sessions are great because they are just a half hour long and provide the perfect amount of time to get some great photos, but also don’t consume a lot of your time. Perfect for the guy or girl that doesn’t particularly like to have photos taken. Mini sessions still allow for some great portraits to be produced. I LOVE Fall Family photo sessions! And this family made the session so much fun. I came away with so many great photographs it’s really hard to choose just a few to showcase on the blog. But here are some of my favorites from this session held at Peaks View Park in Lynchburg, Va. Enjoy!

I have known Brooke and Trevor for over two years. These two are amazing people and a super, awesome couple! I am thrilled they chose me to be their wedding photographer. We hung out in Appomattox for a few hours for their engagement session making great use of the beautiful fields and open space out there in the country. Trevor is a volunteer firefighter for the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department, and he and Brooke wanted to use one of the department’s fire trucks in their photo session. I loved this idea, and had so much fun incorporating the truck and Trevor’s turnout gear. Check out some of the images from this session below.

Engagement sessions are so much fun! I love getting to know a couple and learn about their relationship and how their personalities mesh with one another. And this session with Shamra and Travis was especially fun because I already know Shamra and her personality, so it was nice to meet her fiance, Travis, and to see how they just click with one another. You can tell the two of them are just so much in love and ready to get married. Shamra and I are both Tri Sigmas from Longwood University. And although we attended college at different times and did not know one another while in school – she is much younger than me – having that bond of sisterhood just makes forming a friendship so much easier. I met Shamra several years ago while I was the advisor of the Lynchburg College chapter of Tri Sigmas, and she was a Sigma at Longwood. The Longwood girls came down to Lynchburg to help initiate the newest Sigma colony as a chapter. Facebook has allowed us to maintain a friendship since then! I was so happy that she chose me to be her photographer, and to help her capture all the special memories that go along with getting married! I am just so excited to show off these photos from the Engagement session. And I’m even more excited to be the photographer for their wedding in December! Enjoy!

Over the summer I was thrilled to be asked to photograph another event for Rosie and Randy Gantt. Their events are always so much fun and provide tons of great photo opportunities! For this event, I also set up the Photo Booth in addition to shooting the happenings of the evening. The 20th anniversary party was a blast with good music, food and beverages, as well as a great group of people. Below is just a little snippet of the memories made at this event. I wish R.M. Gantt many future years of success!

I was thrilled to photograph Ashley last week in downtown Lynchburg. An LCA student, Ashley, wanted to have her senior photos taken downtown in a more urban setting. These days, more and more students are looking to have Senior portraits taken in a more unique environment, or more customized setting than offered through the “regular” school sponsored photography sessions. I love meeting students and customizing their Senior sessions to their unique personalities. It really makes for more of a fun session, and the final product is amazing – something no other student will have. I have so many favorites from Ashley’s session it was hard to choose just a few to showcase. I hope you enjoy!

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure to photograph this sweet 2-year-old boy and his family in Appomattox, Va. It is so much fun to meet adorable children and chase them around with my camera for an evening! Meeting new people is just one reason I love what I do. And helping a family celebrate the birthday of their child with photographs that will last a lifetime is another reason my job has to be the greatest. This little guy loves Elmo and his Radio Flyer wagon, and he wasn’t going to let me leave without meeting his chickens. I had a blast at this family session, and am in love with some of these photos taken that evening. I hope you enjoy them too!
